Family’s $50,000 cost for dad’s life-extending bowel cancer medicine

With a supportive wife, five daughters and eight grandchildren, Tony Sullivan has something to fight for.

But extending his life in the battle with bowel cancer will cost his family tens of thousands of dollars.

In 2018, Sullivan, now 54, was diagnosed with stage three cancer.

He was told the cancer had stopped spreading but the news came on his birthday on May 8 this year that it had spread to his lungs and liver and was now classed as stage four.

Sullivan’s symptoms started when he was 47 but medical professionals put it down to haemorrhoids.

After multiple surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, his family are desperate for more time.

That, however, comes with a hefty price tag of about $50,000.
